French President Emmanuel Macron will deliver a state of the nation address. The address is scheduled for 8 p.m. local time.

“At this time of great uncertainty, when the world is facing its greatest challenges, I will speak to you tonight at 8 p.m.” Macron wrote.

The French President's address is scheduled as European Union leaders prepare to hold a special summit on defense and Ukraine on March 6.

European countries are working hard to increase defense spending and support Ukraine in its war against invading Russian forces, amid growing doubts about the US administration's commitment to defending Europe.

Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump suspended military aid to Kyiv, his latest move to change US policy and take a more conciliatory stance toward Russia.

Government spokesperson Sophie Primas said that France is working to restore relations between the United States and Ukraine to achieve a solid and lasting peace.

Primas said France had proposed a truce and France and Europe are trying to re-establish the connection between the United States and Ukraine.

Earlier this week, Macron and his foreign minister said that France and the United Kingdom were proposing a partial truce for one month between Russia and Ukraine that would cover attacks in the air, at sea and on energy infrastructure, but would not include ground combat.
