In the temporarily occupied Tokmak, Zaporizhzhia region, a powerful explosion occurred, reports the mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov.
"Residents of Tokmak and the surrounding area report a powerful explosion. What has happened among the occupiers this time? We are waiting for details from the General Staff," he wrote.
The situation in the Zaporizhzhia region
Russian forces occupied territories along the coast of the Azov Sea in the early months of the full-scale invasion. Currently, Russians are daily shelling towns in the Zaporizhia region.
In contrast, Ukrainian forces intensified their offensive operations in the Zaporizhzhia region this summer. Battles are taking place on two fronts - the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions. Recently, Ukrainian defenders liberated the town of Robotyne and continue to advance in this area.
Moreover, according to British intelligence, Russian terrorists have likely strengthened their defenses around the temporarily occupied Tokmak in southern Ukraine.
