Powerful earthquake struck New Zealand

A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 struck near the South Island of New Zealand, according to Reuters and GeoNet.
The tremors were recorded on Tuesday, March 25, 160 km northwest of the Snares Islands. The earthquake was registered at a depth of 33 km at 14:43 local time.
The National Emergency Management Agency advised residents of the Southland and Fiordland regions to stay away from beaches and marine areas, as strong and unusual currents could pose a danger.
The threat covers the western coast of the South Island, from Milford Sound to Puysegur Point.
Over 4,700 people felt the earthquake. New Zealand media reported falling objects and buildings swaying.

Powerful earthquakes worldwide
Recently, there has been an increase in powerful earthquakes with destructive consequences around the world. Some of these have occurred in countries and areas that were previously not considered seismically active, including Ukraine.
On March 21, an earthquake occurred near the city of Isfahan in Iran, close to a nuclear facility involved in uranium enrichment.
Earlier in March, a 2.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Ternopil region of Ukraine.
In February, a 3.6 magnitude earthquake struck near Poltava.
