The so-called authorities of the temporarily occupied Crimea complained that fixed-line communication operators were subjected to a large-scale cyberattack, according to the occupation ministry of internal policy, information, and communications on Telegram.

"In Crimea, a massive DDoS attack is being carried out against major fixed-line communication operators," the "ministry" statement says.

It clarifies that "some services may periodically be unavailable to subscribers." Meanwhile, technical specialists are "taking all necessary measures."

The fixed-line communication operators are telecom companies that provide internet and telephone access through cable networks, fiber optics, or other stationary technologies. Unlike mobile communication, such services are tied to a specific address and require a physical connection.

Cyberattack on Gazprom

Last week, sources from RBC-Ukraine reported that cyber specialists from the Defense Intelligence attacked the information infrastructure of the Gazprom corporation.

The interlocutors specified that the cyberattack caused major disruptions in the company’s systems, which could have led to emergency operating modes, complications in gas transportation, and serious financial consequences.

Additionally, Ukrainian cyber specialists completely destroyed data on contracts, delivery schedules, tariffs, and financial reports.
