Popular breakfast is secretly ruining your weight loss goals

So-called "healthy" breakfasts often turn out to be quite the opposite. Bright packaging in stores entices shoppers with words like "diet" and "healthy." Here is the breakfast that may be sabotaging your weight loss, as reported by the Daily Express.
What you need to know about healthy breakfasts
In the era of mindful eating, many shoppers fill their baskets with products labeled low-fat, healthy, or natural, thinking they're making the right choices. But according to experts from Optimal You, a leading UK weight loss clinic, many of these seemingly healthy options are not as beneficial as they appear, and some may do more harm than good.
"These foods often come with a health halo. But clever marketing can disguise the fact that they're loaded with added sugars, refined oils, and empty calories," clinic representatives explained.
The result can be stalled weight loss or even unexpected weight gain, leaving you wondering what went wrong.
Breakfast that can hinder your weight loss
One common culprit is granola. Long considered a nutritious breakfast staple, it often hides high sugar and fat content behind a seemingly healthy oat-based appearance.
One cup of granola from certain supermarket brands can contain over 400 calories, with sugar levels rivaling those of a chocolate bar.
"Granola sounds healthy, oats, nuts, fibre, but when it's packed with honey, syrup, and oils to boost flavour and shelf life, it becomes more of a dessert than a breakfast," the expert said.
The same applies to items like flavored yogurts, protein bars, and even certain fruit juices, which are often marketed as healthy alternatives but may contain a heavy dose of sugar and calories your body doesn't need.
"If it needs flashy branding to convince you it's good for you, it probably isn't," the specialist added.
