Poor preparation of Russians limits their offensive on Dnipro's left bank - British intelligence
Ukraine maintains a presence on the left bank of the Dnipro River and continues to repel Russian attacks despite logistical problems, according to the UK Ministry of Defense.
On January 16, 2024, a representative of the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine noted that logistics on the left bank of the Dnipro River were facing difficulties.
"Russia’s Dnipr Grouping of Forces has been unsuccessful in all its attempts to dislodge the Ukrainian defenders, despite almost certainly having a significant advantage in the balance of forces on this axis. It is highly likely that the poor training and coordination of Russian forces in the area is limiting their offensive capabilities," British intelligence said.
The military noted that forcing Ukraine to withdraw its forces from the left bank of the Dnipro River remains a priority operational task for Russia.
"It is highly likely Russia will persist with attacks in the Krynky area in the coming weeks despite growing personnel losses," the statement said.
Situation on the left bank of the Kherson region
Last fall, it became known that Ukrainian soldiers were gaining a foothold on the left bank of the Kherson region, in particular on the bridgehead near the village of Krynky.
The General Staff explained that the Ukrainian Armed Forces wanted to push the Russian occupiers away from the right bank of the Dnipro River. This will reduce the shelling of civilians. Southern defense spokesperson Natalia Humeniuk emphasized that work on the left bank continues.
At the same time, the occupiers continue to actively shell Kherson and other liberated settlements.
