Polish border blockade: Ukrainian PM threatens Warsaw with mirror measures
Ukraine may implement reciprocal measures regarding Poland due to the blockade of all border checkpoints between the countries, according to a statement by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during his trip to the border with Poland.
The head of the government has mentioned that there are over 9,000 trucks waiting at the border between Poland and Ukraine. This issue needs to be urgently resolved. He specifies that the border blockade issue should be resolved well before March 28th, the date planned for a joint meeting between the Ukrainian and Polish governments.
"Otherwise, Ukraine reserves the right to implement reciprocal measures at the border crossings," emphasizes Shmyhal.
Border blockade between Poland and Ukraine
Recently, Polish farmers resumed the blockade of the border with Ukraine. They are protesting at all border checkpoints and are not allowing Ukrainian trucks to pass through. Such actions significantly complicate exports from Ukraine.
Today, on February 23rd, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal proposed a plan to unlock the border, consisting of five points.
Specifically, Ukraine aims to establish a tripartite committee involving Ukraine, Poland, and the European Commission to address the issue at hand.
