Poland's defense chief blasts criticism over Patriot missiles for Ukraine

Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz defended the government's decision to provide Patriot missiles to Ukraine after facing criticism from President Karol Nawrocki's allies, TVN24 reports.
The defense minister reacted sharply to criticism from President Karol Nawrocki's allies and the opposition over the decision to provide Ukraine with several missiles for air defense systems.
In particular, the criticism came from Marcin Przydacz, head of the President's Office for International Policy. He recently said that Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk played a key role in the decision to transfer the missiles.
"Is this treason or simply stupidity?" Przydacz asked.
Against this backdrop, Kosiniak-Kamysz reminded Nawrocki's team that military assistance to Ukraine is in Poland's national interest.
"I will defend this decision made by me and the government. I ask Minister Przydacz: what he is saying — is it treason or stupidity? Yesterday, NATO said that we all must support Ukraine. Ukraine's defeat in the war with Russia is the worst-case scenario for us," the defense minister stressed.
According to him, it is far better for Polish Patriot systems to intercept Russian missiles over Kyiv than over Warsaw.
"I would rather our Patriot systems intercept Russian missiles over Kyiv than over Warsaw. Those who criticize Poland's support for Ukraine have lost their minds. It drives me crazy," Kosiniak-Kamysz said.
Zelenskyy recently revealed for the first time the topics he discussed with Polish President Karol Nawrocki.
The Polish president also said that Warsaw and Kyiv must maintain dialogue because they share a common enemy — Russia.
