Poland plans to demand the European Union to reintroduce permits for Ukrainian carriers arriving in the country, according to the Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki.

"We will strongly and unequivocally demand the reinstatement of the permit system for Ukrainian trucks and drivers entering Poland. This system was in place until the spring of 2022 and worked well until changes were made by the European Commission. Today, truckers are blocking the border," stated Morawiecki.

He added that such changes would regulate the transport market "fairly and equitably."

Transport visa waiver

Last year, after Russian invaders entered Ukraine, the European Union introduced a transport visa waiver for our country. It stipulated that Ukrainian carriers did not need permits for bilateral and transit transportation to EU countries.

Recently, Polish carriers began a blockade at the border with Ukraine, allowing only 1-2 trucks per hour. The main condition to end the strike is the reinstatement of the permit system for Ukrainian carriers.
