Poland on border blockade with Ukraine: All demands of farmers to be accepted
The government of Poland plans to accept all three demands from farmers and proceed with their implementation, says Deputy Minister of Agriculture Michal Kolodzejczak.
"The Ministry accepts all three demands from farmers and is committed to their implementation," he said.
It follows that Kolodzejczak referred to the demands of the organization Podkarpacka Oszukana Wieś, which today will decide whether to resume the protest at the Medika crossing.
In particular, Podkarpacka Oszukana Wieś wanted to introduce subsidies for corn and increase farmer financing to 2.5 billion zlotys.
"It concerns maintaining the agricultural tax at the 2023 level. It has increased - depending on the price of wheat. Changes to the law, which the Sejm is to adopt, are prepared here. Local self-government bodies that agree to apply tax exemptions (...) will receive state compensation," said Kolodzejczak.
Ban on the import of Ukrainian grain
Recall that some EU countries imposed a ban on the import of Ukrainian grain in the spring of 2023. This was done because the import significantly affected prices on the domestic markets of the states.
Later, the decision was made at the level of the European Commission for Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Romania. It was in effect until September 15.
Afterward, it was expected that the import ban would be lifted. However, Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia decided to continue such measures unilaterally.
