The head of Poland's Ministry of Defense stated that the issue of transferring MiG-29 aircraft to Ukraine has not yet been resolved. The ministry has received a corresponding request from the Ukrainian side, according to the website of the Polish Ministry of Defense.
What the minister said
"This issue has not yet been resolved. We have received a request from the Ukrainian side indicating that they remain interested," said Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
What Ukraine is offering in return
According to the minister, the Ukrainian side has presented a proposal to transfer drones to Poland in exchange for aircraft.
"They presented their proposals regarding the transfer of drones to Poland over the next two years. So such an exchange opportunity is real, but it must be an exchange, not just a transfer from Poland's side. We are very cautious here," Kosiniak-Kamysz noted.
The day before, Poland announced lists of military aid to Ukraine for 2022–2023 – in particular, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received MiG-29 aircraft, Mi-24 helicopters, and PAC-3 missiles for the Patriot system.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk also confirmed the transfer of Patriot air defense system missiles to Ukraine to protect against Russian attacks.
At the same time, associates of Polish President Karol Nawrocki called the government's decision to declassify data on military aid to Ukraine a mistake, believing that this information should not be made public.
