In Poland, authorities have launched an investigation into the bombing of a railway line. Law enforcement is treating the incident as a terrorist attack carried out in the interests of a foreign state, said Przemysław Nowak, a representative of Poland’s National Prosecutor’s Office.

According to Nowak, a prosecutor from the Mazovian field unit of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption has opened an investigation into acts of sabotage of a terrorist nature targeting the railway, committed in the interests of a foreign intelligence service against Poland.

The investigation concerns damage caused between November 15 and 17 to the infrastructure of railway line No. 7 on the Warsaw East–Dorohusk section. It involves track damage using explosives near the village of Mika (Garwolin County), as well as track damage near the village of Gołąb (Puławy County).

The case has been opened under several articles of Poland’s Criminal Code. The offenses carry penalties of up to life imprisonment.

Sabotage in Poland

Earlier, a damaged section of railway track was discovered on the Dęblin–Warsaw route, which leads to the Polish-Ukrainian border.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk said it may have been an act of sabotage. No one was injured, and authorities are conducting an investigation. The incident was recorded on the morning of November 16 near the PKP Mika station in Garwolin County, Mazovian Voivodeship.

Later, it became known that Polish law enforcement reported additional acts of sabotage on the key Warsaw–Lublin rail line.

Against this backdrop, the Prime Minister stated there is no longer any doubt that this was sabotage.
