The missile that violated Polish airspace on the night of July 30 was a Russian Kh-101, according to Deputy Minister of National Defense of Poland Cezary Tomczyk.
"I spoke with the operational commander, General Novak, and we can confirm with full certainty that it was a Russian X-101 missile (…), that is, a cruise missile capable of carrying even nuclear warheads, which exploded upon impact with the ground. It is a potentially very dangerous missile," he emphasizes.
Tomczyk notes that Russia usually fires 10 or 20 missiles at Ukraine, but this time there were approximately 70 missiles in total. He states that at 3 a.m., 20 missiles were heading toward Poland.
Tomczyk adds that a Ukrainian pilot tracked the missile all the way to the state border, after which it changed course 20 seconds before potentially entering Polish airspace to avoid being shot down by Polish F-16s.
When asked whether the Russians’ missile launch was intentional, Tomczyk replies that every possibility is on the table.
