Poland backs idea to close skies over Ukraine, but there's catch – Foreign Minister

Poland supports the idea that neighboring countries should help Ukraine shoot down Russian missiles and drones. However, this requires a decision by NATO, according to Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski.
Sikorski was asked how the issue of a possible closure of Ukraine's airspace could be resolved.
According to him, polls in Poland show that its citizens support the idea of closing Ukraine's airspace.
"But Poland is a member of NATO, and therefore we have to wait for a decision from NATO," he noted.
Sikorski also clarified that against the backdrop of Russia's latest provocations in the airspace of Poland, Romania, and Estonia, the process of discussing such an initiative is proceeding at an accelerated pace.
Assistance to Ukraine in destroying missiles and drones
From the very beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, the Ukrainian authorities called on NATO countries to close their airspace, as even then, the problem of Russian missile attacks was significant.
Although Ukraine has been provided with a large number of air defense systems over the past three and a half years, they are still not enough to protect all important facilities.
The issue of establishing a no-fly zone over Ukraine or even part of it has become relevant again after nearly 20 Russian drones invaded Polish airspace and three Russian MiG-31s flew into Estonian airspace.
