Pentagon set to dramatically increase weapons output for Ukraine

The United States is restructuring its weapons production to significantly higher volumes to provide Ukraine with much more across the entire spectrum, US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said.
According to him, Washington is revising its entire approach to producing critical ammunition and other weapons to enable the defense industry to deliver substantially greater output.
"We are changing the approach to manufacturing all of these critical munitions so that our companies provide not just a little more, but significantly more across the full range of capabilities where we can help Ukraine," the Pentagon chief said.
He also noted that the United States encourages European partners to take on a larger share of responsibility for supporting Kyiv and praised the progress already made.
He said Europe has significantly increased its financial and military assistance, while Ukraine has demonstrated high efficiency in using the resources provided.
"We want them to be able to defend themselves, and we will find a way to ensure we can help them together with our allies," Hegseth emphasized.
The secretary added that Washington will continue working with partners to supply Ukraine with defense resources and strengthen allies' long-term ability to support Kyiv.
Recall that NATO Secretary General has previously stated that Europe will finance the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine, and that the Alliance itself must invest more in defense and take on a larger share of the costs of supporting Kyiv.
In summer 2025, the United States temporarily paused the transfer of some weapons. At that time, it involved the purchase of arms for Ukraine from private American companies, funded by US government funds.
