The U.S. Department of Defense has released its fourth major batch of declassified files on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), according to a publication by the Pentagon.

UFO over the Pantex nuclear facility and military radar anomalies

One of the most detailed reports in the newly released files concerns an incident that took place on September 1, 2015, near the Pantex nuclear weapons plant outside Amarillo, Texas.

The appearance of an unidentified object in restricted airspace prompted security personnel to lock down the entire strategic facility temporarily.

Witnesses described the object as follows:

  • It was diamond-shaped with a rounded top.
  • The object measured approximately 1.22 meters (4 feet) tall and 0.6 meters (2 feet) wide.
  • It moved silently at a speed of 10 to 15 mph (16–24 km/h).
  • Security officers observing it through binoculars reported no visible propellers, rotors, or jet engines.

Another declassified report from 2019 describes an incident in which a U.S. Air Force reconnaissance aircraft detected a small rectangular object within restricted airspace.

The object displayed unusual flight characteristics it accelerated so rapidly that it disappeared from the military tracking system almost instantly, before operators could lock onto it.

A pilot with 28 years of service in both the U.S. Air Force and Navy stated in the report that the object's behavior did not resemble any known Earth technology.

Apollo archives and the mysterious jellyfish video over the Atlantic

The public archive has been expanded with rare photographs of unidentified objects and official reports from the crews of Apollo 14 and Apollo 17. The newly released documents add to previously declassified materials related to the Apollo 12 and Gemini 7 missions.

The latest videos have attracted particular attention from researchers.

One recording, captured over the Yellow Sea in 2023, appears to show an unidentified object directly affecting onboard equipment. As a military aircraft approached the anomaly, the five-minute recording from its electro-optical and infrared sensors progressively deteriorated, becoming increasingly distorted by interference.

Another video, filmed over the Atlantic Ocean in 2020, appears to support long-standing rumors about so-called jellyfish UFOs, also referred to as floating brains. The footage shows an amorphous object with several thin appendages hanging beneath it.

The most recent incidents date back to 2025 within the area of responsibility of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command. Military radar systems reportedly detected a hexagonal star-shaped object over the Yellow Sea, as well as another unidentified anomaly over the East China Sea.
