Pentagon releases 72 UFO files: Military reports reveal new sightings

The U.S. government, as part of the PURSUE program, has declassified another batch of archival files describing UFO sightings. The released documents do not contain direct evidence of extraterrestrial life, but they detail anomalous incidents that cannot be logically explained, according to the US Department of War.
Mysterious objects in the U.S. sky: unusual shape and fire-like spheres
Among the released materials, the most attention-grabbing incident occurred in February 2022 near the Fort Carson military base in Colorado. Five U.S. Army service members reported an unidentified object hovering above Cheyenne Mountain.
According to an FBI report, witnesses described the anomaly as a potato-shaped object with sharp edges and a creamy-white pearlescent color. Its surface consisted of uneven panels or scales that appeared to be in constant motion.
The object hovered motionlessly in the sky for about two minutes before disappearing instantly. Pentagon investigators suggested it could have been a reflection of sunlight from snow on clouds, but the military noted that the sky that day was completely clear and no aircraft or drones were detected in the area.
Another incident occurred in October 2023, when six federal law enforcement officers documented bright orange and red spheres over a mountain range.
These orbs periodically emitted smaller luminous objects. The Pentagon’s Anomaly Resolution Office suggested they could have been military flares, but its final assessment also noted that unknown technologies could not be ruled out.
Global context: plasma sun and CIA archives
The new document package also includes geographically broader observations recorded by intelligence agencies both inside the U.S. and abroad:
2025 incident in the northeastern United States: a witness recorded on a mobile phone a bright red sphere near a forest, inside which a white plasma core the size of a basketball was rotating.
Later, a second sphere appeared, and both silently flew away. The video of this incident was later officially published by the White House.
CIA archive on Zimbabwe (2008): air traffic controllers and witnesses near the country’s main airport observed a disc-shaped object with rotating lights. The report states that at one point, the craft emitted powerful beams of light.
What is the PURSUE declassification program?
The release of files is part of the large-scale government program PURSUE. It was launched following a direct order from President Donald Trump to review and declassify all documents related to potential extraterrestrial activity and UFOs.
So far, around 300 specific files have been made publicly available under this initiative, starting with archives from the 1940s.
The Department of War emphasized that investigations and data analysis are ongoing, and additional batches of documents will be released as legal reviews are completed.
