Peace Summit may become basis for future negotiations between Ukraine and Russia - Bloomberg
The Global Peace Summit may become the basis for future negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, Bloomberg reports.
The Peace Summit, which will be held on 15-16 of this month in Lucerne, Switzerland, will focus on three areas, namely:
- nuclear security
- food security,
- and the return of abducted children.
According to Bloomberg, the Summit will be aimed at paving the way for the involvement of Russian officials in future negotiations after decisions on the above issues are reached.
Although Russian officials were not invited to the meeting, the Summit document, seen by Bloomberg, states that ending the war must involve all sides.
“We, therefore, agreed to undertake concrete steps which can serve as confidence building measures in the above-mentioned areas with further engagement of the representatives of the Russian Federation,” the document says.
This time the Russian Federation will not participate in the Global Peace Summit.
Earlier, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba explained why Ukraine does not invite Russia to the Global Peace Summit.
At the same time, the head of the President's Office, Andrii Yermak, said that Russia could still be invited to the Summit, but to the second one.
