Peace deal in Ukraine requires concessions from both sides - US Secretary Rubio

For agreeing on a ceasefire in Ukraine, each side must receive something and give something, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio states.
"The only way to reach a deal is for each side to get something and each side to give something — and that's been very difficult," Rubio remarked.
He emphasized that if it were easy, it would not have lasted 3.5 years.
"That's why Zelensky is coming tomorrow," he added.
Preparation for an agreement on peace in Ukraine
Recently, Rubio emphasized that security guarantees for Ukraine and territorial concessions must become part of peace negotiations with Russia.
Previously, on August 16, US President Donald Trump informed European leaders about his readiness to provide Ukraine with American security guarantees.
This became a noticeable signal of a change in his position regarding Washington’s participation in ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The statement was made after Trump’s meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, which took place on Friday at a military base in Anchorage, Alaska.
The main topic of the negotiations was stopping the aggression of the Russian Federation, however, according to Trump, it was not possible to reach an agreement on a ceasefire during the meeting.
The US President emphasized that further development of events depends on the decisions of the Ukrainian leadership.
Today, August 17, the Ukrainian President arrived in Brussels for a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, and after this, together with European leaders, will depart for the USA.
