Patriot for Ukraine: Ukraine is in negotiations for four batteries
Ukraine is working to obtain four additional Patriot batteries from its allies, stated Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba.
The minister emphasized that for any specifics regarding the transfer of air defense systems, including the Patriot, it is better to inquire when the relevant decisions are made. This was the case with Germany when it announced the transfer of its Patriot battery.
"The task of ministers is to prepare decisions. And now, in development, as I said three weeks ago, but today I had the last conversation, and I understand that we have four specific batteries on our radar, if we are talking about the Patriot. Negotiations are ongoing between us and the respective countries and the USA," the Foreign Minister said.
Kuleba stressed that the task now is to expedite the adoption of relevant decisions.
"Such decisions will be made, I have no doubt. And this is a positive outcome for Ukraine," the minister added.
He also reminded that today, April 22, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with President of the United States Joe Biden, and this issue became a key issue during the phone call.
Patriot for Ukraine
Ukrainian officials are actively discussing with Western countries the transfer of Patriot systems to Ukraine after the increase in shelling by the Russian forces. The enemy employs, among other things, ballistic missiles for attacks, and Patriots are needed to destroy such airborne threats.
Ukraine's initial goal is to obtain seven Patriot batteries to defend its skies from constant Russian strikes. Germany has already announced the transfer of one battery.
A few days ago, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz suggested that partners could provide Ukraine with an additional six Patriot batteries.
