Partners may buy US weapons for Ukraine - Ukraine PM and Rutte discuss initiative

Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte discussed an initiative to purchase US weapons for Ukraine, according to the post by the head of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense.
Shmyhal stated that the conversation took place following the latest UDCG meeting. He and Rutte reviewed the outcomes of the session, coordinated further efforts, and discussed the recent initiative.
"We also discussed a new initiative that would allow allies to purchase American weapons, including Patriot systems, for Ukraine. We are grateful to all countries that have expressed readiness to join," Shmyhal said.
Shmyhal also thanked Rutte "for a strong speech in support of Ukraine" during the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting.
"We are building a strong and friendly partnership for lasting peace and security," the defense minister concluded.
