Russia struck Sumy region overnight on July 23, leaving part of the area without electricity. Power restoration may take some time, according to Sumy Regional Military Administration head Oleh Hryhorov and acting mayor of Sumy Artem Kobzar.

Kobzar said Russian forces once again targeted civilian infrastructure in the city, leaving parts of Sumy without electricity.

"Some medical facilities are operating on generators," he noted.

According to him, all emergency services are currently working to eliminate the consequences of the strike.

Hryhorov, for his part, also said that Russian forces targeted civilian infrastructure in Sumy region. He added that restoration efforts are ongoing, but power supply may take some time to resume.

"We are doing everything possible to speed up the process," he stated.

Russian attack on Ukraine on July 23

In the early hours of July 23, Russia once again launched Shahed-type attack drones against Ukraine, prompting air raid alerts across multiple regions.

Shortly after midnight, reports of explosions emerged from Kryvyi Rih. The regional military administration confirmed that the city had come under a Shahed drone attack, which resulted in fires.

The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed that the threat of strikes by Russian drones remains.
