Georgian President Salome Zourabishvili has announced that she will not resign from the presidency despite the end of her mandate. She explains this by saying that the parliament is not legitimate, according to Sova.

Zurabishvili explained that since the parliament is illegitimate, it cannot elect a new president.

“I will be at the head of the political process, remaining your president. There is no legitimate parliament, so the illegitimate parliament cannot elect a new president, so there can be no inauguration,” she said, addressing the nation.

The President added that her mandate is valid until a legitimate parliament is elected, which will legitimately elect someone to replace her.

“I am with you and I will stay with you,” she summarized.

Georgia's presidential election is scheduled for December 14. For the first time in the country's history, the president will be elected by the parliament, where the ruling Dream party has a majority.

Protests have been taking place in Georgia for several days in a row. In particular, people are protesting against the decision of the ruling Georgian Dream party to suspend the country's European integration by the end of 2028.

Georgians are demanding re-elections to the parliament. On October 26, parliamentary elections were held in Georgia, where the pro-Russian Georgian Dream party gained a majority. At the same time, massive fraud was recorded during the elections.
