Without the participation of the US, NATO becomes a "paper tiger," and European allies show cowardice by refusing military operations to lower oil prices, states US President Donald Trump, according to his social media platform Truth Social.

Criticism of allies

Trump sharply criticized his partners for their passivity in countering Iran’s nuclear ambitions and their unwillingness to take responsibility for stabilizing the fuel market.

"Without the USA, NATO is a paper tiger! They didn’t want to join the fight to stop a nuclear-powered Iran. Now that fight is militarily won, with very little danger for them, they complain about the high oil prices they are forced to pay, but don’t want to help open the Strait of Hormuz," he emphasized.

Accusations of cowardice

According to the politician, an operation to unblock the strait is a simple military maneuver with minimal risk, yet Alliance members avoid decisive action.

"So easy for them to do, with so little risk. Cowards, and we will remember!" Trump added.

What preceded Trump’s statement

Earlier, it became known that several European countries are conducting secret talks with Iran to stabilize the situation in the region, trying to avoid direct military confrontation.

In addition, according to sources, NATO allies have already refused Donald Trump direct military assistance, yet the United States continues to insist on a more active role for the Alliance in operations in the Middle East.

The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz became the subject of emergency consultations among the leaders of major world powers, as this route is crucial for the global supply of energy resources.
