During the night of March 5, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with drones launched from five directions. Around 100 of them were Shahed-type kamikaze drones, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.

How many drones Russia launched

According to military data, the attack began at 18:30 on March 4, Kyiv time.

Russia used 155 strike drones of various types, including:

  • Shahed;
  • Gerbera;
  • Italmas;
  • drones of other types.

Around 100 of them were Shahed-type kamikaze drones.

Launches were carried out from directions of Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), as well as from Hvardiiske and Chauda in temporarily occupied Crimea.

How Ukrainian air defense worked

Air attack was repelled by:

  • Aviation;
  • Anti-aircraft missile troops;
  • Electronic warfare units;
  • Unmanned systems units;
  • Mobile fire groups of Ukraine's Defense Forces.

According to preliminary data as of 08:00, air defense forces shot down or suppressed 136 enemy drones.

At the same time, hits by 18 strike drones were recorded at eight locations. In addition, debris from downed UAVs fell at three more locations.

"Attack continues, several enemy UAVs remain in the airspace. Follow safety rules," the Air Force reported.

During winter, Ukraine experienced 14 massive combined attacks by Russian forces. More than 700 missiles of various types and thousands of drones were launched across the country.
