Overnight, Russia struck with 62 drones from five directions: 19 hits confirmed

On the night of Sunday, October 19, the Russian army launched 62 strike drones over Ukrainian territory. Most of them were successfully intercepted, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
Starting at 7:00 p.m. on October 18, Russian forces carried out a massive attack using 62 strike drones, including Shahed, Gerber, and other models. The drones were launched from the directions of Millerovo, Kursk, Oryol, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia. Around 40 of the drones were Shaheds.
The Ukrainian defense response included aviation units, surface-to-air missile troops, electronic warfare systems, mobile fire groups, and unmanned systems units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Preliminary data shows that as of 8:30 a.m., air defense units had shot down or neutralized 40 enemy drones, including Shahed, Gerber, and other types, in the north and east of the country.
There were 19 confirmed drone strikes in seven locations.
The attack is ongoing, with several enemy drones still in Ukrainian airspace. Authorities urge citizens to follow safety protocols during air raid alerts.
For context, on the evening of Saturday, October 18, Russian forces struck Lozova in the Kharkiv region with a KAB bomb. This was the first time Russia had used an aerial bomb on the city.
Additionally, according to Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister of Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba, Russian forces continue to refine their drone strike tactics and adjust their methods for targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
