Overnight drone and Iskander missile attack by Russia: Air defense intercepts revealed

On the night of August 9, Russia launched attacks using drones and missiles against northern and eastern regions of Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian Air Forces' Telegram channel.
Starting at 10:30 p.m. on the night of August 8-9, the enemy carried out missile and drone strikes across several regions of Ukraine.
From the directions of Kursk, Millerovo, and Shatalovo, 47 Shahed attack drones and various types of decoy drones were launched into Ukrainian territory, along with two Iskander-K cruise missiles from the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia region.
The main targets were frontline areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions. The cruise missiles were aimed at the city of Dnipro.
Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces actively repelled the attack.
As of the morning of August 9, air defense systems had shot down or suppressed one Iskander-K cruise missile and 16 enemy Shahed drones and decoy drones in northern and eastern Ukraine.
At the same time, 31 enemy drones were recorded hitting 15 different locations.
Night attack by Russia
Several settlements in eastern Ukraine were affected by the Russian drone attacks overnight. In particular, the city of Chuhuiv in the Kharkiv region was struck by drones in one of its outlying neighborhoods.
According to preliminary reports, two local residents were injured in the strike, and an apartment building was damaged.
In addition, drones attacked the Balakliia community. Several impacts were recorded in the central part of the city, including strikes on a private household and a non-residential building.
