As of today, August 20, there have been 87 enemy attacks on the front. The Russian forces are most active in the Pokrovsk direction, where they have carried out over a third of all attacks, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Enemy shelling

According to the General Staff, border areas of the Sumy region continue to suffer from Russian artillery shelling.

In particular, the settlements of Bachivsk, Mykhailivske, Riasne, and Pokrovka have been affected by artillery fire. Additionally, the enemy has fired twice with multiple rocket launchers at Slavgorod.

Situation in the directions

Kharkiv direction: Today, Russian troops launched six assaults on our positions in the areas of Vovchansk and Lyptsi. Currently, there are two ongoing clashes in Vovchansk.

Kupiansk direction: The enemy attacked our positions six times. Ukrainian defenders repelled enemy assaults near Petropavlivka and in the direction of Lozova and Novoosynove. One clash is still ongoing.

Lyman direction: Enemy units, supported by aviation, continue to attack in the areas of Makiivka, Novosadove, Hrekivka, and Dibrova. Since the beginning of the day, Ukrainian forces have repelled nine enemy attacks in this area. The situation is under control.

Siversk direction: Fighting continues, with the enemy attacking near Verkhniokamianske, Vyimka, and Pereizne. The enemy attempted to breach our defenses four times and dropped seven aerial bombs on Serebrianka and Verkhnokamianske.

Kramatorsk direction: The invaders carried out three assault actions near Ivanivske and Klishchiivka. They also struck with unguided aerial rockets in the area of Hryhorivka and Chasiv Yar.

Toretsk direction: The number of enemy attacks currently stands at 14. Today, the enemy is attacking near the settlements of New York, Nelipivka, Toretsk, and Zalizne. Our defenders are providing a strong response, with 13 clashes already concluded and one ongoing. The aggressor’s aviation struck the settlement of Druzhba with unguided aerial rockets and hit Toretsk and Nelipivka with eleven cluster bombs.

Pokrovsk direction: The highest number of clashes is reported here. Since the beginning of the day, the occupiers have made 34 attempts to push our defenders from their positions in the areas of Vozdvyzhivka, Mykhailivka, Kalynivka, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, Mykolayivka, Ptyche, Skuchne, and have attacked towards Zelenopillia. Defense forces have repelled 24 enemy attacks, with ten clashes still ongoing.

Kurakhove direction: The Russian forces have attacked our units seven times, attempting to advance near Kostyantynivka, Krasnohorivka, and Karlivka.

Vremivka direction: The invaders made one unsuccessful attack on the positions of Ukrainian troops.

Orikhiv direction: The settlements of Novoyakovlivka and Novopavlivka were hit by cluster bombs, while Novoandriivka and Lobkove were struck by unguided aerial rockets. At the same time, enemy units attempted to advance towards Novodanilivka but were unsuccessful.

Prydniprovskyi direction: The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled two enemy attacks.

Situation on the frontlines and Russian losses

According to the General Staff, during the past day, August 19, Ukrainian forces recorded 158 combat engagements with Russian forces, with over a third of them occurring in the Pokrovsk direction.

Over the last 24 hours, Russian troops lost 1,330 soldiers, 26 armored combat vehicles, 52 artillery systems, and other equipment.
