Over 500 Russian drones and multiple missiles hit Ukraine overnight: Air defense in action

Russian forces launched 537 drones and 45 missiles of various types across Ukraine overnight on August 30. Most enemy targets were destroyed by air defense forces, according to the Telegram channel of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"On the night of August 30, the enemy carried out a massive strike on the territory of Ukraine using attack UAVs and air-, ground-, and sea-launched missiles. In total, 582 aerial attack systems were detected and tracked," the Air Force stated.
It was reported that, overall, the enemy deployed:
- 537 attack UAVs of the Shahed type and various types of decoy drones launched from the Russian directions of Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Oryol, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk;
- 8 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Russia’s Rostov region and Krasnodar Krai;
- 37 cruise missiles of air-, ground-, and sea-launched types, including Kh-101, Kalibr, Iskander-K, and Kh-59.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, surface-to-air missile troops, electronic warfare and drone units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian defense forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 9:00 a.m., air defense systems had shot down or suppressed 548 aerial targets:
- 510 enemy Shahed UAVs and decoy drones of various types;
- 6 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
- 32 cruise/air-launched missiles, including Kh-101, Kalibr, Iskander-K, and Kh-59.
In addition, impacts were recorded for 5 missiles and 24 attack drones across 7 locations, and the debris of downed targets fell across 21 locations.
Ukraine attack on August 30
As a reminder, overnight on August 30, Russian forces attacked Ukraine. Kyiv, Lutsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, and other regions of the country came under fire.
In Zaporizhzhia, impacts were recorded during the attack. Private homes were also damaged, and fires broke out. According to preliminary information from rescuers, one person was killed and six others were rescued, with at least 22 people reported injured.
It was also reported that due to the shelling in Kyiv region, a number of trains are delayed and will arrive at Kyiv station with a delay of up to two hours. Some of these are international trains.
Additionally, the enemy attacked Dnipropetrovsk region with drones and missiles of various types. As a result, infrastructure and residential buildings were damaged, and fires broke out.
