Russian forces attacked Ukraine’s energy infrastructure with strike drones and missiles. Hundreds of thousands of customers were left without power, according to the Energy Ministry.
“On the night of November 28–29, the enemy launched a massive missile-and-drone strike on energy infrastructure facilities in the city of Kyiv, as well as in the Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, and Kharkiv regions,” the Energy Ministry said.
As of the morning, more than 500,000 consumers in the city of Kyiv, more than 100,000 in the Kyiv region, and almost 8,000 in the Kharkiv region were without electricity.
“Emergency restoration work is already underway, where the security situation currently allows. Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore power to all customers as quickly as possible,” the ministry added.
Rolling blackouts are being applied today in all regions of Ukraine. Power limitation schedules for industrial consumers and businesses also remain in effect in most regions of Ukraine.
Power consumption
Electricity consumption shows a growth trend. Today, November 29, as of 8:30 a.m., its level was 2.1% higher than at the same time last Saturday, November 22. The reason is the use of a smaller volume of forced restrictions in most regions.
Yesterday, November 28, the daily peak consumption was recorded in the evening. It was at the same level as the peak of the previous day, Thursday, November 27.
Massive attack on Ukraine
An air alert was declared in Kyiv and the Kyiv region around 11 p.m. Shortly before midnight, explosions sounded in the capital. Later, ballistic missiles were added to the drones.
Seven people were injured, including a child. Rescuers saved four people, including a child and a person with limited mobility. Later, it became known that two people were killed, and the number of injured increased to 15.
As of this morning, the air threat remains. Enemy aerial targets are being detected on the approaches to the city.
In Brovary, a high-rise building and a private house were damaged as a result of the Russian attack. Three people are currently known to have been injured, one of whom was hospitalized.
