Over 100 Russian drones and missiles fly near Ukrainian nuclear plants in less than month
More than a hundred Russian drones and missiles have flown near Ukrainian nuclear power plants in less than a month. Such actions of Russia pose an unprecedented threat to the whole of Europe, according to Energoatom.
“Over the past few weeks, more than 70 unmanned aerial vehicles of the terrorist country and more than 30 enemy cruise missiles have been observed flying near Ukrainian NPPs,” the statement said.
Energoatom notes that such actions by Russia pose an unprecedented threat not only to Ukraine but also to the entire continent. No other country in the world has ever created similar threats to nuclear facilities.
The company also added that Energoatom provides information about each such incident to the relevant institutions to send notes to the International Atomic Energy Agency and inform domestic and international organizations.
"We expect a strong response and condemnation of the actions of the Russian aggressor. The international community must force Russia to stop threatening Ukraine’s nuclear power plants," emphasized Petro Kotin, the head of Energoatom.
Recently a Russian drone flew in close proximity to the Khmelnytsky NPP.
Today, Energoatom announced that the IAEA will expand its monitoring missions in Ukraine. Observers will be sent to infrastructure facilities that have an impact on NPP safety.
