SBU's operation
On June 1, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted a historic operation, attacking Russian military airfields Olenya, Belaya, Dyagilevo and Ivanovo with drones. The aircraft used include A-50s, Tu-95s, Tu-22 M3s, and Tu-160s.
SBU chief Vasyl Malyuk headed the working team that prepared the special operation for more than a year and a half. The SBU drones hit targets at 4 Russian military airfields at once. The SBU estimated that 34% of strategic cruise missile carriers at the main airfields were hit.
The operation took place simultaneously in three time zones and was extremely complex from a logistical point of view. First, the SBU sent FPV drones to Russia, and then mobile wooden houses. Already on the territory of Russia, the drones were hidden under the roofs of houses placed on trucks. At the right moment, the roofs were remotely opened, and the drones flew to hit the designated targets - Russian bombers.
According to the head of the SBU, the estimated cost of the destroyed enemy strategic aircraft is over $7 billion.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, after processing additional information from various sources and verifying it, reported that the total losses of the Russians amounted to 41 military aircraft, including strategic bombers and other types of combat aircraft.
