Kharkiv National University named after Karazin will partially return to in-person learning next year. Special safe spaces will be set up for this purpose, states Tetiana Kahanovska, rector of Kharkiv National University named after Karazin, in a comment to Dumka.

According to the rector, students already miss in-person interaction and communication.

She noted that university education is not only about knowledge and competence but also about communication and the environment in which students are immersed.

Kahanovska added that at the beginning of the full-scale war, the university did not have enough classrooms in safe spaces. Therefore, work was underway to secure funding for their construction.

"Today we have that opportunity and are carrying out this work. We hope to complete it on time by the end of this calendar year. Starting from the second semester, our students will already have the opportunity to study in the safe spaces of Karazin University," she said.

Kharkiv under attack

Russian forces regularly strike Kharkiv with aerial bombs and drones, as the city is located about 30–35 kilometers from the Russian border.

On August 17 alone, Russian forces attacked the city with a ballistic missile.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that the enemy targeted residential apartment buildings in the Industrial district. Three people were injured, including a 13-year-old girl.
