One of deadliest in Canada history: School shooting kills 10 in Tumbler Ridge

In the Canadian town of Tumbler Ridge in northeastern British Columbia, a woman allegedly carried out a school shooting. Ten people were killed, and 25 others were injured, Bloomberg and The Guardian report.
A report of a shooting at a secondary school was received at 13:20 local time. At the scene, rescuers found the bodies of six victims and the suspect, who allegedly took own life.
Later, law enforcement found two more victims in a private house linked to the incident, and one of the injured died during air evacuation to the hospital.
Investigators are currently searching additional locations to determine the scale of the tragic event, which appears to be considered one of the deadliest mass shootings in Canadian history.
The identity of the shooter is not being disclosed at this time, as evidence collection at crime scenes continues. About 25 injured are under medical supervision, most of them with moderate injuries.
In a shooting alert published by police, in which residents were advised to shelter in place and lock doors during an emergency, it said that "suspect described as female in a dress with brown hair."
Tumbler Ridge is located more than 1,100 kilometers northeast of Vancouver. The population of the town, according to the 2021 census, was only 2,400 people.
Other shootings in the world
On December 14, 2025, a mass shooting occurred at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, duringan event marking the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. Dozens of people were killed and injured in the incident.
In January this year, in the Mexican city of Salamanca, a group of armed attackers carried out a shooting at a football field after the match ended. At least 11 people were killed, and 12 others were injured in the attack.
Also in Colombia, unknown individuals opened fire with automatic weapons on the motorcade of a sitting senator. Several security guards of the politician were killed.
