On Sunday, July 6, Russian forces attacked the village of Bytytsia in the Sumy region. The attack killed one person and wounded another. Several houses were also damaged, according to Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, and Serhii Kryvosheienko, head of the Sumy City Military Administration.

"One civilian died as a result of an enemy attack on Bytytskyi Starostat in the Sumy community. The victim's body was found during a territory inspection after a series of strikes. Another person was preliminarily reported injured," Hryhorov said.

He added that around 4:00 PM Kyiv time, Russia attacked the village with four drones over 15 minutes. Dozens of houses were damaged, and five were severely damaged or destroyed.

According to the regional administration head, search and rescue operations are ongoing. The scale of the destruction is still being assessed.

At the same time, the head of Sumy City Military Administration confirmed that follow-up attacks took place at 3:45 PM Kyiv time. He also confirmed the casualty report and the number of injured. Kryvosheienko provided details on the number of houses damaged.

"As a result of today’s attacks, 25 houses were damaged, including five that were destroyed. Firefighting efforts are underway. Unfortunately, one person died and another was injured. Cleanup operations continue. People may still be under the debris," the statement said.

Russian attack on Bytytskyi Starostat

As a reminder, the Bytytskyi Starostat in the Sumy community has been under attack since the night of July 6. Russia struck the area with guided bombs and drones, followed by a missile strike in the morning.
