Olha Stefanishyna has officially begun her service as Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States, according to the official's Twitter (X).

"As I begin my mission as Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States, I carry with me the courage and resilience of our people," Stefanishyna said.

According to the ambassador, she began her mission with a moment of silence in memory of the fallen Ukrainian defenders.

"It is because of their sacrifice that we continue diplomacy — defending sovereignty, strengthening partnerships, and pursuing a just and lasting peace. With deep gratitude to all who defend Ukraine," she added.

Olha Stefanishyna

Olha Stefanishyna was born on October 29, 1985, in Odesa.

In 2008, she graduated from the Institute of International Relations at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, earning a master’s degree in international law and a qualification as an English translator.

In 2016, she obtained a second higher education degree from Odesa National Economic University, specializing in Finance and Credit.

Since 2007, Stefanishyna has worked at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, holding various positions, including director of the Department of International Law and the Department of European Integration.

From 2017 to 2019, she headed the government office for European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

In 2020, Stefanishyna was appointed Vice Prime Minister for European Integration of Ukraine.

From September 5, 2024, to July 17, 2025, she served as Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine and Minister of Justice.

On July 17, 2025, she was appointed Special Presidential Envoy of Ukraine for Developing Cooperation with the United States.

Stefanishyna’s appointment

Previously, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States was Oksana Markarova. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed her from the position by decree.

As explained by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, every diplomat has a "rotation cycle."

On August 27, the head of state announced that Olha Stefanishyna had been officially appointed as Ukraine’s new ambassador to the United States, following the completion of all formal procedures.
