Odesa’s Pryvoz market burns following Russian strike: Photos emerge

In Odesa, the famous Pryvoz Market is burning following a Russian night strike using Shahed drones targeting the city’s historic center, according to the State Emergency Service (DSNS).
“The Odesa Pryvoz is not just a market — it’s the true heart of the Odesa region, where life pulses and the city’s spirit comes alive. It’s the place to truly experience Odesa,” rescuers said.
According to the State Emergency Service, efforts are currently underway to contain the aftermath of the Russian terror attack. Emergency responders are working to save the historic site in the heart of Odesa from the flames.
What is known about the Pryvoz market
The large food market located in the historic center of Odesa is a local landmark. Its history dates back to 1827. Originally, the market specialized in selling goods brought in from elsewhere, which is how it got its name.
Attack on Odesa on July 24
During the night of July 23, amid another drone strike, the Odesa Regional Military Administration reported that air defense systems were active as several explosions were heard across the city.
It was later confirmed that the attackers targeted the historic city center, causing fires and damaging architectural landmarks protected by UNESCO.
According to Odesa’s mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, the world-famous Primorskyi Boulevard was hit during the attack.
