Odesa region hit in overnight attack as Russia targets power and heating systems

Russian forces once again carried out a massive attack on Odesa region overnight on February 22. Energy infrastructure was again targeted by drones, and fires broke out at the impact sites, according to the Telegram channel of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the channel of Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper.
"Overnight, the enemy struck energy infrastructure facilities in the region, trying to leave people without electricity and heat," the State Emergency Service said.
Rescuers added that the strikes caused significant damage and large-scale fires. However, all fire outbreaks were promptly extinguished.

At the same time, Kiper clarified that it was specifically energy infrastructure that came under attack. An assessment of the condition of the energy facilities and efforts to eliminate the consequences are currently ongoing.
"Fortunately, there were no fatalities or injuries," the head of the regional military administration said.
Shelling of Odesa region
It should be recalled that the Russians also shelled the region the previous night. In particular, the occupiers attacked an energy facility in Odesa region, which sustained significant damage as a result.
In addition, urban infrastructure and several residential buildings were damaged that same night. According to local authorities, an educational institution was affected.
