NSDC answers whether Russia is ready for talks with Ukraine
Russia is not ready for serious peace talks at the moment. It is possible to talk about peace with it only from a position of strength, states the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksandr Lytvynenko.
According to him, the strategic culture of the Russians differs from the Western approach, and this affects Russia's readiness for peace talks.
“Russia is not ready for serious negotiations. The problem is to get Putin to the negotiating table. Russians have a different strategic culture than the West. You can only talk to them from a position of strength. Therefore, you must help us defeat Russia by arming us. Otherwise, the war will continue in other territories,” he said.
Lytvynenko noted that Ukraine continues to implement the peace formula and is preparing for the second peace summit.
In his opinion, Ukrainian government agencies have now been cleansed of Russian agents. This is because otherwise, the Russians would have learned about the preparations for the Kursk operation.
“The cleansing has taken place. This is the responsibility of the SSU. It required a lot of work because Russia has been working against us for thirty-three years since independence. The Kursk operation showed that Ukraine could organize large-scale operations against the Russians. If one of their agents had found out about this, everything would have been different. Of course, there are still Russian agents, but they are much smaller,” he said.
President Zelensky's “peace formula”
A peace summit was held in Switzerland to implement the so-called “peace formula” of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It was attended by representatives of about 100 countries and international organizations, who then signed a joint communiqué.
Ukraine is currently planning to hold the second peace summit in Saudi Arabia.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine will hold the seized territory in the Kursk region, and he believes that this territory is an integral part of his “victory plan” to end the war.
Meanwhile, South Africa has supported an alternative plan to Ukraine's war with Russia, which was previously proposed by China and Brazil.
