Now I run the world: Trump compares his presidential terms

US President Donald Trump explained to journalists how his second presidential term differs from his first, The Atlantic reports.
When asked whether his second term is different from the first, Trump said it is.
"The first time, I had two things to do — run the country and survive; I had all these crooked guys. And the second time, I run the country and the world," he said.
"I’m having a lot of fun, considering what I do. You know, what I do is such serious stuff," the President added.
According to the agency, Trump is thrilled with how his first 100 days of the new term are going.
"If I'm not president, you're fucked," he said.
Trump's first presidential term
Donald Trump first officially assumed office as President of the United States on January 20, 2017, following his election victory as the Republican Party nominee. His first term was marked by major domestic reforms, including the 2017 tax reform that cut taxes for businesses and individuals, and a hard-line immigration policy, highlighted by the construction of a wall along the US-Mexico border. In social policy, the Trump administration focused on restricting immigration and deregulating the economy.
Trump’s first term ended against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, an economic crisis, and widespread protests over racial inequality. The 2020 presidential election, in which he lost to Joe Biden, was accompanied by numerous lawsuits filed by Trump alleging election fraud. After the expiration of his term on January 20, 2021, Trump left office, becoming the first US president to be impeached twice during the same term.
Trump's second presidential term
Donald Trump's second term began on January 20, 2025, after his victory in the 2024 election. His campaign centered on promises to restore order in the USA and strengthen America's international standing.
In the early months of his second term, his administration pursued further immigration restrictions, reduced government regulation of the economy, and revised climate policies with a focus on achieving energy independence.
On the international stage, Trump continued his America First approach, aiming for new trade agreements and reducing US financial contributions to international organizations.
He also pays attention to attempts to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine, positioning himself as a peacemaker. His administration initiated a series of international negotiations involving European nations and the US, seeking to achieve a lasting ceasefire.
Despite ambitious goals, Trump's second term faces numerous challenges: deep political polarization within the US, strong opposition from Democrats in Congress, and a complex global environment. Nevertheless, Trump remains determined to advance his agenda, aiming to solidify his legacy as a president who prioritized America's interests.
In early March 2025, Trump delivered an address to Congress, touching on issues such as the Panama Canal, US control over Greenland, and the Russia-Ukraine war.
By early April, widespread protests against Trump's administration erupted across the United States, with demonstrations also spreading to several European countries.
