US House Speaker Mike Johnson has pointed to a different reason for rising global oil prices. And it has nothing to do with Ukraine, CBS News reports.

Johnson on fuel prices

The Republican leader in the US House of Representatives said everyone was frustrated with fuel prices, but in his view, the issue was not related to politics.

"This is not related to Republicans in office," he clarified.

Johnson pointed to a different cause than the one previously cited by US President Donald Trump, who blamed Ukraine's strikes on Russian oil refineries.

"This is related to the Strait of Hormuz. It is not yet resolved," the politician added.

Trump on oil prices

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Trump had reached a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin to supply Russian diesel fuel to the US. The arrangement was intended to help address rising fuel prices in the US.

Trump also announced that an energy ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia had begun on October 11, claiming that both sides had agreed to it.

In addition, Trump has repeatedly claimed that Ukraine's attacks on Russian oil refineries are disrupting the global diesel market. In his view, these strikes pose a serious threat to farmers and livestock producers.
