Norway to send six F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine: Deliveries to begin this year
Norway has decided to transfer six F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, with deliveries set to begin this year, according to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
He said that Ukraine's ability to defend itself from air attacks is crucial for its defense against Russia.
"Norway has decided to gift six F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. We plan to start deliveries in 2024," the Prime Minister said.
In August 2023, during a visit to Kyiv, Støre announced that Ukraine would receive F-16 fighters from Norway. However, at that time, the Norwegian Prime Minister did not disclose the number of jets or the timeline for their delivery.

Other countries in the aviation coalition, namely Denmark, the Netherlands, and Belgium, have pledged to provide significantly more combat aircraft to Ukraine than Norway.
Denmark is transferring 19 jets, and Belgium recently announced that their donation would amount to 30 jets. In early July, the Netherlands approved the export of 24 F-16 fighters to Ukraine.
