The Norwegian government today approved an increase in the support package for Ukraine from 35 billion Norwegian kroner to 85 billion kroner (approximately $7.8 billion), states Norwegian Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg, according to NRK.

According to him, the Norwegian government approved a new support package in addition to the previously allocated 35 billion Norwegian kroner. As a result, the total amount of funding to support Ukraine this year reaches 85 billion kroner, which is approximately $7.8 billion.

"We are tripling our military support," Stoltenberg emphasized.

He added that the funds will be spent abroad and therefore will not contribute to pressure on the Norwegian economy.

Norway's aid to Ukraine

Since the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Norway has been actively supporting Kyiv — providing military, financial, and humanitarian assistance.

During this time, Ukraine has received air defense systems, artillery, armored vehicles, and missiles from Norway. The country also funds weapons procurement through international funds and helps strengthen Ukraine’s energy system by supplying equipment and allocating resources for its restoration after Russian attacks.

Recently, the Norwegian prime minister stated that the government would soon ask parliament to increase financial support for Ukraine.

Earlier, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced that Norway would provide Ukraine with €3.5 billion in 2025 to support its needs.
