Norway allocates over $100 million more for air defense for Ukraine

Norway has allocated a new financial assistance package for Ukraine. The funds will be used to purchase additional air defense equipment, the Norwegian government says.
The allocation of new aid was announced at a meeting in the Ramstein format by Norwegian Defense Minister Tore O. Sandvik.
At a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense, he said that air defense is Ukraine's highest priority military need and is crucial for protecting both military and civilian infrastructure.
“In 2024, Norway has allocated more than NOK 6 billion to Ukraine for air defense. Recently, the government has decided to allocate an additional NOK 1.2 billion (about $110 million) for air defense measures for Ukraine,” the minister said.
The funds will be used to purchase air defense equipment from the United States under the JUMPSTART program.
Norway's assistance to Ukraine
Norway has been helping Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion. The country has joined the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine and has been providing military assistance.
At yesterday's Ramstein, the Norwegian Defense Minister announced that the country was joining the drone coalition created to help Ukraine.
Norway has also joined an aviation coalition that is providing F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
