North Korean troops suffer heavy losses in Kursk region - Ukrainian intelligence
Russia continues to use North Korean soldiers in its military operations against Ukraine. DPRK troops in the Kursk region suffer losses, according to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
Russian UAV units are providing support and coordination for North Korean assault groups in the Kursk region.
"On December 20, 2024, a North Korean assault unit in the Kursk region suffered sanitary losses of at least 5 servicemen in one of the areas. However, Russian officers ordered the soldiers to continue holding the position,” the intelligence report said.
The defeat of a mortar unit of the North Korean army was also confirmed.
"On the front lines, North Korean units lack drinking water - due to active hostilities, logistics are complicated," the Defense Intelligence states.
On December 20, as a result of a fire attack by the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine on the enemy's concentration near Novoivanovka, Kursk region, North Korean troops suffered significant losses in killed and wounded.
On December 21, the Russians continued to supply the DPRK army units with ammunition and food to replace losses in positions and continue assault operations.
On December 22, as a result of a successful strike by the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine, probably on one of the key communication hubs of the North Korean army, a sharp decrease in radio communication between the North Korean military was recorded.

According to US and South Korean officials, more than 10,000 North Korean soldiers have been sent to help Russia in the war.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on December 16 that Russia had begun to involve soldiers from North Korea in the Kursk region.
According to South Korean intelligence, at least 100 North Korean soldiers stationed in Russia were killed and another 1,000 wounded during fierce fighting with Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region.
