North Korea plays into Putin's hands as Europe nears nuclear war
North Korea stated on Sunday that the US military assistance to Ukraine amounting to $8 billion is an incredible mistake and a dangerous game against a nuclear state like Russia, according to Reuters.
Kim Yo Jong, the powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, claimed that Washington is reportedly escalating the conflict in Ukraine and putting all of Europe on the brink of nuclear war.
"The United States and the West should not dismiss or underestimate Russia's serious warning. Are the United States and the West really able to handle the consequences as they recklessly play with fire against Russia, which is a nuclear superpower?" Kim said in a statement published by state news agency KCNA.
New nuclear threats from Putin
Recently, Russian leader Vladimir Putin proposed expanding the conditions under which nuclear weapons could be used. The updated version of the nuclear doctrine suggests that aggression against Russia by any non-nuclear state, but with the involvement or support of a nuclear state, should be considered a joint attack on the Russian Federation.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called Putin's nuclear threats "irresponsible."
Yesterday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, speaking at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, warned against attempts to defeat a nuclear state.
