US President Donald Trump will leave the G7 summit in Canada early, skipping the final day of the event, according to the White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on the social media platform X.

Leavitt said that Trump "had a great day at the G7." In particular, he signed a major trade agreement with the United Kingdom and Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

"Much was accomplished, but because of what’s going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State," she added.

Trump confirms return to US

US President Donald Trump stated that he needs to return as soon as possible.

"I'll have dinner with these wonderful leaders, then I'll get on a plane. I have to get back early," added Trump.

Meeting with Zelenskyy

Axios previously reported, citing a White House source, that US President Donald Trump was scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the G7 summit.

However, Zelenskyy is set to participate in the summit only on June 17, its final day. On June 16, he was on an official visit to Austria.

Zelenskyy indirectly confirmed the rumors, saying he planned to discuss the possibility of purchasing weapons from the US during a meeting with Trump.

For reference, the last time the two leaders met was during the funeral of Pope Francis in April.
