'No few great powers' should dictate global decisions: Zelenskyy at Peace Forum
In our time, there are no longer "great powers" that can decide for everyone else. Today, all nations are equal, and each deserves respect, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy says that now, in our time, the world stands at a crossroads, and local wars can provoke a global collapse. He emphasizes that the sufferings experienced by one nation or another can drag neighboring nations into the abyss.
"But the world is not doomed to disasters and suffering. We are capable of making the right turn!" - the president stressed.
The head of state emphasizes that it is cooperation and unity of all who truly value peace that can prevent disasters and stop the suffering of nations.
"In this, every nation matters! It is important to remember this. There are no few great ones that supposedly can decide something in the world for everyone. All nations are equal, and every nation deserves respect," he emphasized.
According to the president, only such an approach can realize the right of every child of every nation to a world where there are more examples of achieving peace than stories of its destruction.
"So, when I proposed the Ukrainian Peace Formula to protect our people and to create a globally significant precedent for the restoration of honest peace, I counted on global efforts, on the unification of the world majority, on cooperation that unites all, all continents. And gradually, we are achieving this," Zelenskyy added.
Global Peace Summit
The Global Peace Summit with the participation of leaders from several countries may take place in early 2024.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that the war in Israel had shifted the focus of several Middle Eastern countries from the Ukrainian Peace Formula and the Global Peace Summit.
