There are currently no enemies of Ukraine in the team of US President Donald Trump. There are, perhaps, only skeptics regarding the provision of military aid to Ukraine. But there are more friends of Ukraine there, the key figure among them being special representative Keith Kellogg, according to Chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, to the Kyivpost.

Budanov noted that the absence of enemies of Ukraine in Trump's team is a key point worth attention. Apart from skeptics, there are people who believe that the volume of aid to Ukraine is clearly insufficient.

"In this sense, first and foremost, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio can be named, as well as the US president’s Special Envoy, Keith Kellogg. Their stance is absolutely clear – aid to Ukraine is part of US national interests. Therefore, it should continue and increase both quantitatively and qualitatively," explained Budanov.

The head of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense recalled that Kellogg supported Ukraine even before the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. During Trump’s first term, Kellogg was national security advisor to the US President.

The retired US Army general belonged to the "hawks" wing in the Republican Party – they advocated a tough approach to Russia and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. Now Kellogg also helps – after he visited Ukraine, he went to Germany.

"The recent progress in the supply of air defense systems is largely linked to the efforts of the US president’s special envoy. Today, he is actively involved in negotiations concerning Ukraine’s defense and the conclusion of peace. Perhaps this is precisely why his work so unnerves Russia," added Budanov.

The head of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense added that he assesses the prospects of Ukraine’s relations with the US more optimistically than negatively.

"America is our friend. Yes, our relationship is not always easy. But in the end, we always find common ground. The fact that Keith Kellogg is currently the main representative of US interests regarding the end of the war indicates the correctness of this approach. We are strategic partners. And our cooperation strengthens both countries," he summarized.

Kellogg’s visit to Kyiv

Trump’s special representative, Keith Kellogg, visited Ukraine on an official visit on July 14. He spent four days in the capital, meeting with Ukrainian officials, particularly President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. More about this – in the material by RBC-Ukraine.

Among other things, Kellogg visited Ukraine’s defense enterprises and witnessed firsthand how Ukrainian-made drones are created and developed. He highly praised Ukrainian drones and held up Ukraine’s defense industry as an example for the American one.

It is worth adding that this was not Kellogg’s first visit to Ukraine. Previously, he had visited the country in February.
