According to The Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources, the Iranian authorities have refused to make concessions in negotiations with the US and have rejected mediators' proposals.

Attempts to launch negotiations

Mediators from Türkiye, Egypt, and Pakistan have stepped up efforts to arrange a dialogue between Iran and the US with the aim of ending the war or reaching a temporary ceasefire. However, sources indicate that these initiatives have yielded no results so far.

Tehran's position

The WSJ's interlocutors reported that the Iranian side is not ready to compromise on its key demands.

Tehran also rejected the option of opening the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for a temporary ceasefire.

WSJ reported that Iran refused to make concessions on its demands and rejected the proposal to open the Strait of Hormuz.

Refusal to meet with the US

Furthermore, according to sources, Iranian officials informed mediators that they are unwilling to meet with the American side in Islamabad in the coming days.

Tehran considers the US demands to end the conflict unacceptable.

Thus, despite the diplomatic efforts of several countries, there has been no progress toward negotiations between the parties.

US President Donald Trump stated that he is ready to destroy all of Iran's power plants if the country's leadership does not agree to restore operations in the Strait of Hormuz by the evening of Tuesday, April 7.

US President Donald Trump did not rule out that a deal with Iran could be reached as early as Monday, April 6, but otherwise declared his readiness to resort to a military scenario.
